Discover the formal state rooms of Wentworth Woodhouse and its vast history with a Wentworth Tour, led by one of our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides. The tour encompasses the rise and fall of the house from its beginnings in the 1600's to its time as a family home and teacher training college, right through to present day and the work of the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust. As you journey through the state rooms, see first-hand the splendour of this 18th century house still intact after a chequered past.

The Wentworth Tour runs for approximately 60 - 75 minutes.

Includes House & Garden general admission on the day of your Wentworth Tour.

Due to the age and nature of Wentworth Woodhouse there is currently no lift access to the first floor of the Mansion.   There is ramp access to the gound floor of the Mansion.

Catherine Bailey’s highly acclaimed book Black Diamonds brought the plight of Wentworth Woodhouse and its incredible story to worldwide attention. Now the author has again put pen to paper and created The Black Diamonds Tour, a fascinating insight into the story which takes visitors through the twists and turns of the house’s history with a specially-trained guide.

Please note: This is a 90-minute tour and includes a number of stairs. The tour tells new stories in some of our most popular spaces and includes some areas of the house not previously open to the public

Join a member of our team for one of our special Hidden Tours where you will get an exclusive look behind the scenes and experience parts of the house not normally open to the public.

This tour takes place over many floors of Wentworth Woodhouse and, therefore there are many steps and staircases to traverse; please wear sensible footwear.  Due to the age and nature of Wentworth Woodhouse, we do not have an access lift to the first and second floors. 

* Due to the installing of our George Stubbs Exhibition, the House admission is closed to the public. However, the gardens will be open 10am-5pm.

Join a member of the Wentworth Woodhouse team as they take you to parts of the house currently undergoing work and share with you some of the conservation challenges ahead.

Join us for our highly anticipated new tour, which includes exclusive access to the vaulted cellars and attic rooms for the very first time. This tour (only available January to March 2025) will share stories of parties in the cellars, family lives on the upper floors and includes access to some of our more derelict areas awaiting restoration.
