1 October 2025-  Madam Geneva: Gin and the Georgians by Dr Peter Collinge (Keele University)
Dive into the world of Georgian gin - the demon drink of the eighteenth century. As it flooded towns and cities, in its wake came illicit gatherings, poisonings, crime, scandal death and murder. Aghast at its intoxicating and debilitating effects, especially among the poor, moral crusaders took to the streets and to the printing press; so too did its promoters. The results were both riotous and turbulent.
