Join us for Portraits and Power: A closer look at Van Dyck and Strafford
Join our volunteer researchers, Caroline and Jonny as they guide you through a focused tour of the Van Dyck paintings on display, exploring the artist’s work and his relationship with Thomas Wentworth, 1st Earl of Strafford. Discover new insights and stories that go beyond the interpretation boards, shedding light on art, politics, and power in 17th-century England.
The tour ticket includes same day general admission for you to explore the exhibition in your own time.
Selected dates during the House of Fun exhibition
Adult (17+) | £20.00
Includes House & Garden general admission on the day of your tour (subject to opening days and times).
Accessibility
A temporary lift (available until 31 December 2025) provides access to the first-floor State Rooms for visitors with mobility impairments. A staff member or volunteer will accompany visitors using the lift. For queries, contact info@wentworthwoodhouse.org.uk.
October Activities
There are some exciting planned activities and events taking place on site in October that may affect your visit:
Friday 10th October - Black Diamonds Ball
On this day we are setting up for our major fundraising event- the Black Diamonds Ball in some of our State Rooms. Final Boss by Bruce Asbestos will also not be in situ in the Marble Saloon.
Thursday 16th October to Friday 7th November- Screamtime
For the first time, Screamtime iscoming to Wentworth Woodhouse. This is the ultimate after-dark scare experience for thrill-seekers and horror fans. The Garden will be closed from 4pm on these dates, and you may notice set-up for the event taking place including some light projections on to the House and sound effects on the route from the House to the car park.

Gift Aid On Entry
If you're not a member/friend of Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust you have the choice of two entry tickets:
- Gift Aid Admission; or
- Standard admission
As we operate a Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a choice between the Gift Aid Admission price or standard admission price.
It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose, just let us know when you come to pay.
Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid — an extra 25 per cent — potentially a very significant boost to our funds.
Payment of the additional percentage donation is entirely voluntary, so if you prefer to pay the standard admission please advise our staff at the till point or select the standard admission price toggle below when booking online.
