Billy the Bat is a bat born at Wentworth Woodhouse. His amazing adventures can be discovered in Sue Wilkins's new book, 'Billy the Bat', with illustrations by Liz Furness.
Join us to officially launch the book in this free for children event. Including:
- A reading of Billy the Bat by author Sue Wilkins
- A talk about bats by wildlife expert Greg Slack
- Bat inspired craft activities
Adults will need to purchase a Gardens Admission ticket. Children (under 16) are free of charge.
This workshop will be perfect for budding batwatchers ages 3+ who must be accompanied by an adult.

Gift Aid On Entry
If you're not a member/friend of Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust you have the choice of two entry tickets:
- Gift Aid Admission; or
- Standard admission
As we operate a Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a choice between the Gift Aid Admission price or standard admission price.
It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose, just let us know when you come to pay.
Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid — an extra 25 per cent — potentially a very significant boost to our funds.
Payment of the additional percentage donation is entirely voluntary, so if you prefer to pay the standard admission please advise our staff at the till point or select the standard admission price toggle below when booking online.
