Sit & Sew | Quilts for the Longest Day
Sit and Sew - Quilts for the Longest Day
Dates & Time*:
- Sunday 2 September 10am-4pm
- Sunday 8 November 10am – 4pm
*If you want to attend both sessions, please book a ticket for each session.
Location: The Old Hall, Wentworth Woodhouse (Rotherham, S62 7TQ)
Host: Quilts for the Longest Day & The Happy Hare
Activity: The group will be teaching quilting basics and demonstrating the hand-craft skills used to make patchwork quilts for military veterans.
Come and help sew a patchwork quilt, to be distributed to military veterans, with us at Wentworth Woodhouse on September 20th between 10am & 4pm.
As part of the ongoing Quilts for the Longest Day exhibition in the community space, we're going to be working on some hand sewing - slip stitching binding and sewing on labels - the final steps the quilts need to go through, ready to donate.
If you have experience of quilting and would like to lend a hand, we'd love you to help us.
If you've never done any quilting, and would like to learn how to slip stitch, we will have some sample pieces you can have a go with and take away with you after the session.
The session will be run on a drop-in basis, so just come along and spend some time with us.
Attendees can access both this session and the quilt exhibition free of charge, without having to pay entry to the main house. Please book a ticket here. If you would like to visit the house, the Echoes of the House exhibition, or the gardens, you will need to buy an entry ticket.
Hope to see you there!
