House & Gardens Admission
Wentworth Woodhouse invites you to wander in and explore its principal rooms in your own time, imagining yourself perhaps at a grand ball or luxurious dinner as the House opens its doors to free-flow visits. Room Stewards will be on hand to help with queries and a children’s activity sheet is available for younger visitors.
Although we have 365 rooms in total, only our State Rooms are available to explore as much of the House is still unsafe for visitors. We also don’t have a collection and have chosen to let the beauty of the rooms speak for themselves rather than filling the spaces with unoriginal items.
You may notice that some of our State Rooms appear quite dark as their shutters are closed. This is because UV rays from sunlight are one of the main causes of damage here at Wentworth Woodhouse. As a Preservation Trust, it is our duty to protect and preserve the House for future generations so we have taken the decision to close some shutters in order to best conserve the rooms.
The time you book is for exploring the rooms, the gardens can be accessed at any time during our opening hours on the day of your ticket. If you book a later session for your house admission, we encourage you to visit the gardens first (ahead of your booked time slot) to ensure you get the most from your visit.
Due to the age and nature of Wentworth Woodhouse there is currently no lift access to the first floor of the Mansion. There is ramp access to the gound floor of the Mansion.
Ticket options
Gift Aid On Entry
If you're not a member/friend of Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust you have the choice of two entry tickets:
- Gift Aid Admission; or
- Standard admission
As we operate a Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a choice between the Gift Aid Admission price or standard admission price.
It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose, just let us know when you come to pay.
Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid — an extra 25 per cent — potentially a very significant boost to our funds.
Payment of the additional percentage donation is entirely voluntary, so if you prefer to pay the standard admission please advise our staff at the till point or select the standard admission price toggle below when booking online.
Would you like to donate to our Big House Heroes Appeal? Your support means so much to us and any donations are gratefully received.
