One for the creepy crawly lovers! Search for and identify little creatures found here in the Forest of Bewilderment, create ‘habitat piles’ and build small insect homes from natural materials found in the Gardens to take home with you.

Join us for the second nature discovery session all about trees and plants! Young curious minds will learn how to identify plants by their leaves and the age of a tree.

As part of our Big House Heroes fundraising campaign, Darfield-based milliner, Sherry Richardson, is kindly hosting a Fascinator-Making Workshop where you will come away with your very own fascinator made from a hat-making fabric called 'sinamay'.

The Three Inch Fool's return to the West Front Gardens with two new outdoor theatre performances this summer! The first will be Shakespeare's shortest, and wildest comedy - The Comedy of Errors. The clock is ticking, as the Fools rush to untangle one almighty mess in this farcical tale of long-lost twins, hysterical misunderstandings, and endless mishaps. With musical instruments in hand, the actors present a joyous take on this Shakespearean rib-tickler - guaranteed fun for the whole family.

We are collaborating with Home Instead to bring a Memory Café to The Camellia House each month!

The Memory Café is suitable for those living with dementia, or memory loss, and their carers. In the beautiful surroundings of The Camellia House, the Memory Café will explore local history and culture, through crafting, hands-on activities and conversation, alongside hot drinks and cake.

• Parking and entry is via the new Stables Car Park (on the right-hand side before reaching The Stables) where you will be greeted by members of our team.

• A Changing Places toilet facility is available next to The Camellia House.

Colourscape

Eye Music Trust return once again with their mesmerising Colourscape labyrinth on the West Front Lawn this June!

Delve into an enormous inflatable filled with intense colour and light whilst experiencing a ‘symphony for the environment’ created on unusual musical instruments to echo sounds of water, earth and air. Wander through beautiful tunnels of radiant colour and discover musicians and dancers in a unique journey of the senses.

Join us as Murder 57 return to host Game, Set & Match, an immersive murder mystery experience followed by a two-course dinner for our next fundraising event of 2024.

The plot follows the story of surprising Wimbledon qualifier, Lorna Davis, and not only her pursuit for victory in the global tournament but her goal to humiliate some of the biggest names in the tennis world. Lorna hides a dark secret and is sure no one will stand in the way of what she wants...revenge.

Following the success of the recent Glass Flower Workshop, Stocksbridge-based artist, Pam Goodison, is kindly hosting a Glass Bird Workshop to contribute towards our Big House Heroes fundraising campaign.

Join us for a two-hour workshop where you will be shown a range of glass-cutting and decorating techniques in order to create a pair of glass birds of your own to take home.

No previous experience is required and all materials will be provided… All you need to bring is your creative mind and enjoy a therapeutic morning crafting in the Low Drawing Room this summer.

In this interactive Live Garden Trail with the ‘Woodhouse Players’ acting troupe, children will learn all about the life cycle of butterflies through poetry and a variety of immersive nature-themed activities. Each child will also receive a wooden butterfly to take home and paint!

Can you put your best foot forward and complete our Figure of Eight Follies Challenge?

Back by popular demand, our Follies Challenge covers 20km (13 miles) of South Yorkshire countryside and takes in the four follies linked to Wentworth Woodhouse’s history. Our team of guides will give you a warm welcome on the day as well as giving a brief talk at each monument. A light lunch will be provided in the Low Drawing Room part way through the walk, where you will be able to rest your legs and enjoy a selection of savoury snacks and refreshments, before heading back out to complete the challenge!

• The terrain is moderate with some steady climbs, uneven surfaces, stiles and sections which can be muddy and slippery.
